Volunteer Opportunities

There are many opportunities to volunteer at Calvary. View the Service Opportunities Listing for details, or visit the information desk in the Church Narthex. Following are a few of the opportunities available.

Mt. Airy Net Food Pantry Collecting Food For Needy

Mt. Airy Net food pantry needs your help year round to keep our shelves stocked and ready to serve our neighbors in need. Non-perishable food and toiletries (shampoo, soap, toilet paper, toothpaste, etc.) needed. All donations can be dropped off at the church office anytime.

Calling All Adults - the Youth Need Your Help!

Our Junior and Senior High Sunday school program is currently in strong need of adult teachers for Sunday mornings. Planning and coordination for the upcoming year which begins this fall are underway and now would be a great time to hear from you. Resources and support are provided to assist you.

Our UMYF program is currently in strong need of adult female leaders. The number of girls tends to be greater than the boys and requires sufficient female leadership for Sunday evenings. This need becomes especially crucial when participating in activities that require working with the two groups individually, leaving the church for various activities/events and overnight type arrangements.

If interested in either opportunity or for any questions please contact Pat Murphy (301) 829-0287 or pat@calvary-mtairy.org. Thanks in advance for considering our youth at Calvary!

Pleasant View Nursing Home Visiting Volunteer(s) Needed

If you like to visit with seniors, play bingo and eat cake this is a wonderful opportunity for you! At this time we have two volunteers who visit once a month for 2-3 hours. They enjoy this mission, but would also like some help. If this is something you feel God has opened your heart to please call Cyndi at 410 635-7418 for more information.

English As a Second Language (ESL) ESL has four different language skill levels taught by our own members and members from other churches. In 2007, our ESL program helped close to 30 people become more proficient in the English language from many countries. Our program is FREE and open to anyone interested in learning English. Volunteers are welcome. Click here for more information.

Volunteers are needed to provide snacks and babysit for students' children on Tuesday evenings when ESL meets. (We have one babysitter who would like to trade off every other Tuesday night.) Volunteers are also needed to help in giving placement tests for newly enrolled students. If you would like to help, please contact Carol Parker-Perez at carolp654@gmail.com or Sarah Dorrance at 401-549-3840.
