Thy Kingdom Come

Join us in participating May 18 – May 28th by praying with us and churches around the world. Below you will hear the invitation from Pastor Mark Gorman as well as resources for praying during this time.

10 Ways to participate through prayer

1. Pray for 5:

We all know people who don’t know the love of Jesus for themselves. Write down the first names of 5 people you know, and pray for them every day from May 18-28. Pray that they will know God’s love in Jesus Christ for themselves.

2. Pray for the Holy Spirit:

As we get ready to celebrate Pentecost on May 28, pray for the Holy Spirit to come powerfully on us at Calvary. You can simply pray, “Come, Holy Spirit.” You can also listen to this beautiful setting of that prayer from a group in France, or to this hymn by Charles Wesley.

3. Cheeky Pandas!

Have children? Know someone who has children? Share the Cheeky Pandas with them. Cheeky Pandas is an online animated series that teaches kids about following Jesus. Our family loves the Cheeky Pandas! I’d start with this video, but you can find all the episodes here.

4. Kairos Prayer Vigil:

Our Kairos Prison Ministry team is re-entering a prison for the first time since the pandemic to minister to and with residents. Sign up here to pray for them for one or more 30-minute slots during the prayer vigil May 18-21.

5. Calvary Movie Night:

Come out with friends, family, and neighbors to our Calvary Movie Night, Friday, May 19. Doors open at 6:30pm, and the movie will begin at 7pm. Bring a chair or blanket if you want (we’ll have plenty of chairs if you don’t). We’ll provide the popcorn!

6. Cheeky Pandas Again!

Download the Cheeky Pandas’ new album here and share it with your kids. No kids? Listen anyhow–or memorize the 9 fruits of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, goodness, self-control; Galatians 5:22-23) and the 7 gifts of the Spirit (wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord; Isaiah 11:1-3)

7. Pray the Lord’s Prayer:

Join me in praying the Lord’s Prayer at 6pm every day from May 18-May 28. Set a calendar reminder for yourself (I know I need one!).

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and
the glory, forever. Amen.

8. Holy Spirit Devotions:

Download a special devotion (called a novena) for May 18-28 here. You can also download a prayer journal for those same days here. Keeping a record of your prayers can help you see how God has been moving in your life.

9. There’s an App for That!

Download the Thy Kingdom Come 2023 App here. You’ll get access to videos and other content every day from May 18-28.

10. Plan to wear red for Pentecost:

Find your best red shirt or outfit for May 28, and wear red to church to celebrate Pentecost.  More info about worship at Calvary here
