MUSIC MINISTRY

Calvary has an active music ministry program including various choirs and other opportunities to share the musical gifts God has given you.  We have choirs for everyone from the age of 4 to 104. (And if you’re 105, we’ll take you too!) Below is some information on the various choirs and other music ministries at Calvary. If you’d like to be part of a Calvary choir, we’d love to have you come sing with us.

Choirs

Adult Choir
The Adult Choir sings at both the 9:20 and 11:00 services on a rotating basis. It is led by our Director of Music, Joseph Choi, and it rehearses on Thursday evenings at 7:00 in the music room. If you’re interested in singing with us, please contact Joseph at Joseph@calvary-mtairy.org

Youth Choir
The Youth Choir is made up of Middle and Senior High School age youth (Grades 6 to 12). They also sing at both the 9:20 and 11:00 services on a rotating basis, and are led by Lindsay Sier. They rehearse on Sundays from 5:00-6:00 in the music room. For more information, please contact Lindsay at lindsay.b.sier@gmail.com.

Calvary Singers
The Calvary Singers is our choir for kids from Grades 2 through 5 (rehearsals are on Thursdays from 6:00-6:45 in the music room). If your kid might be interested in singing in the Calvary Singers, please contact our Director of Music, Joseph Choi, at  Joseph@calvary-mtairy.org or Register Here.

Cherub Choir
The Cherubs is our youngest choir, and it’s for little ones from age 4 through 1st grade. They have a lot of fun, and it’s a great way to introduce them to the world of music and singing for God. It is led by Rachael Buker, and she can be reached at mygirlsrachie@gmail.com.

Heirs of Joy Mission Choir
The Heirs of Joy is Calvary’s travelling adult choir. They sing at various local nursing homes, retirement communities, and other churches. Rehearsals are on the second and fourth Tuesday evening of each month at 6:15. If you would like to join us, or if you might know of a facility where we might serve, please contact Janis Dagger at jmdagger@comcast.net

Wesley Ringers
For ages 16 and up, the Wesley Ringers is, as the name implies, Calvary’s handbell choir. They rehearse on Tuesday evenings at 7:30 in Room 111. If you can count to 4, then you can be a handbell choir member. For more information, contact the Ringers’ director, Scott Slaughter at thatscottdude@gmail.com.

You don’t need to have any previous choir experience if you’re interested in joining any of Calvary’s choirs, All you need is:
  • a love of singing or ringing handbells
  • a desire to sing or ring praises to God
  • the time to commit to weekly rehearsals and Sunday services

Other areas of music ministry at Calvary

Praise Team
Calvary’s Praise Team leads the congregational singing every week at our 9:20 Praise and Worship Service. It’s a praise band made up of guitars (acoustic, electric, and bass), keyboards, drums, and vocalists. We practice on Saturday mornings at 9:30 in the sanctuary. If you have some skill on any of these instruments and would be interested in playing/singing with us as we help to lead the congregation in worship on Sunday mornings, or if you would like more information, please contact Rich Cole at lorichcole@juno.com or Mark Plante at Mark.k.plante@comcast.net

Accompanists
Calvary is always looking for skilled pianists to volunteer to accompany our kids choirs, or to help fill in when our regular accompanists are away. If you know your way around a keyboard and you’d be interested in playing from time to time, please contact our Director of Music, Joseph Choi, at  Joseph@calvary-mtairy.org

In fact, for more information on any of the music ministries at Calvary, please contact Director of Music Joseph Choi at Joseph@calvary-mtairy.org  or by phone or text at 812-760-6686.

ANTHEM DEDICATIONS

Would you like to be able to dedicate a song to someone you love? If so, you can underwrite the purchase of a choir anthem by designating a gift of $50 for a choir anthem in honor or memory of a particular person. More information is available at the Calvary Connection in the church narthex.
