The Seven Last Words

Christ our victim
whose beauty was disfigured
and whose body torn upon the cross;
Open wide your arms
to embrace our tortured world,
that we may not turn away our eyes,
but abandon ourselves to your mercy;
for you live and love with the Father
and the Holy Spirit, now and for ever. Amen.

“Father forgive them, for they do not know what they do”
Luke 23:33-34

“Today you will be with me in paradise”

“Woman Behold your son: behold your mother.”

My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?
Matthew 27:45-46
From noon on, darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon. And about three o’clock Jesus cried with a loud voice, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” that is, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

“I thirst”

“It is finished.”

“Father into your hands, I commend my spirit.”
